- John Arthur Andrews
- Thomas Angove , winemaker, received the patent for bag-in-box wines on April 20, 1965 .
- Arthur James Arnot invented the first stationary electric drill and designed the Spencer Street Power Station in Melbourne

- Arthur Bishop , inventor of rack and pinion steering
- Lewis Bandt , vehicle designer , developed the first utility vehicle at Ford Australia in 1933 .
- Charles K. Bliss , Bliss symbols
- Charlie Booth , starting block
- Edward Both invented, among other things, an inexpensive iron lung , a portable electrocardiograph and an electro-encephalograph . During the Second World War, he invented the Visitel, a forerunner of the modern fax machine .
- Frank Bottrill , inventor of the Big Lizzie tractor
- Louis Brennan , (Irish / Australian), invented a monorail that was stabilized by a gyro system and applied for a patent for this invention in 1902, prior to which he patented the Brennan torpedo in 1877 .
- JA Birchall , the stationery dealer from Launceston , Tasmania, invented the notebook in 1902 .
- John Wrathall Bull was one of the inventors of the stripping harvester, another to whom this invention is attributed is his compatriot John Ridley.
- Frank Macfarlane Burnet (1899–1985) "for their discovery of acquired immunological tolerance" (1960: Nobel Prize for Medicine, together with Peter Brian Medawar)

- Demetrius Comino , inventor of Greek origin, engineer and founder of the Dexion company . He invented the system profile shelf made of perforated steel profiles.

- Peter Doherty (* 1940), immunologist "for her discovery of how the immune system recognizes virus-infected cells" (Nobel Prize for Medicine, together with Rolf Zinkernagel)
- As early as 1912, Lancelot de Mole submitted a proposal to the British War Office , supplemented by detailed drawings, for an armored tracked vehicle that was easy to steer and capable of negotiating rough terrain and trenches. The War Office rejected this proposal, however. A model of De Mole's invention is in the Australian War Memorial.
- Guillaume Daniel Delprat , Dutch-Australian metallurgist at BHP , where he and Charles Potter invented the principle of foam flotation, which made ore processing much more economical.
- John Dethridge , Commissioner for the Victorian State Rivers and Water Supply Commission, developed the Dethridge Wheel, which can be used to measure the amount of water used to irrigate agricultural land.
- John W. Dickenson introduced the control system used to this day for the hang glider with a central suspension for the pilot and the triangular control bar. Then he developed various hang gliders that are exemplary for today's models. In 2012 he received the Gold Air Medal of the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale in recognition of his work on the development of modern hang gliders
- Sally Dominguez Australian designer. Her work includes the Nest High Chair, the design of which has since been included as an exhibit in the Powerhouse Museum 's collection , as well as a modular water tank that can be installed both horizontally and vertically

- John Carew Eccles (1903–1997): “for their discoveries about the ion mechanism that takes place during excitation and inhibition in the peripheral and central areas of the nerve cell membrane” (Nobel Prize for Medicine, 1963, together with Alan Lloyd Hodgkin and Andrew Fielding Huxley)

- Lawrence Hargrave , aviation pioneer; As the first person in Australia, he took off in 1894 with a flying machine that was heavier than air
- James Harrison (Engineer) , Australian newspaper editor and engineer who pioneered refrigeration. In 1854 he developed the first commercial ice machine and the first practicable steam pressure refrigerator a year later.
- Milan Hudecek A pioneer in the field of assistive technology, he developed the Eureka 4a, the first computer for the blind

- Clarence Herbert Smith and Richard Bowyer Smith jointly invented the stump-jump plow in 1876, which is particularly suitable for work in the Mallee areas.
- Colin Sullivan , professor at the University of Sydney, developed the CPAP ventilation which is used in addition to outpatient therapy for sleep apnea in certain cases of emergency and intensive care medicine .
- Henry Sutton , wireless communications , electrical and microscopy engineer and inventor , builder of the Sutton Autocar , one of Australia's first automobiles
