List of mayors of Bordeaux
The list of mayors of Bordeaux , List des maires de Bordeaux, names all mayors of the port and city of Bordeaux in France .
The office of mayor has been demonstrable in the city since 1208. Two years earlier, the city had already organized municipal institutions and councilors who elected the city's first mayor, maire de Bordeaux . With Alain Juppé , who was re-elected in 2008, the city now has 240 mayors.
After Johann Ohneland's attack on Bordeaux in April 1206, he wrote a letter to the “mayor, lay judges and believers of Bordeaux”, which could be taken as evidence of the existence of a mayor in Bordeaux. In his book History of Bordeaux from 1901, Henri Gradis gives Monadey as the first mayor of Bordeaux for the year 1173 , but without a source for this information. For the fact that Peter Lambert (Petrus Lambertini) mentioned in writing on April 20, 1208, that the mayor was elected by 50 city councilors, there is evidence.
The year of election or the term of office is in brackets.
