The list of the mayor of Freital contains since the city was founded in 1921 acting mayor and mayor of the city of Freital .
The city had a total of 23 mayors. After the city was founded, the former Potschappl community chairman Max Baumann took over the official business. On May 1, 1922, he was succeeded by Carl Wedderkopf as the city's first elected mayor. The SPD politician Klaus Pollack was the only person to hold this office twice in the 1990s, initially provisionally in 1992 before being regularly elected in 1994. Walter Daehn held the longest term of office, from 1972 to 1990 he was mayor of Freitals for around 18 years.
From 1922 to 1950 the title of Lord Mayor was held. This has been the case again since Frealen was named a major district town in 1997.
After Klaus Mättig (CDU), who was elected at the beginning of the 21st century, was unable to run again for reasons of age, Uwe Rumberg (non-party, previously CDU) was elected Lord Mayor on June 7, 2015 with 51.3% of the valid votes. He took office on August 1, 2015.
