Klaus Pollack

Klaus Pollack (born January 21, 1942 - October 17, 2015 ) was a Saxon local politician ( SPD ).

Career

Pollack was born on January 21, 1942 and worked for the VEB Prüfgerätewerk Medingen during the GDR era .

From 1990, Klaus Pollack worked as head of economic affairs in the Saxon city of Freital and as its deputy mayor of the city from September 11, 1992 to December 17, 1992. He succeeded the CDU politician Wolfgang Böduel and was thus the city's third mayor . He was followed by Norbert Krutzki (CDU) until 1994 .

For the Saxon local elections on June 26, 1994, Pollack stood for election as Mayor of Freetal and won with 55.1% of the vote. Pollack has held the office of mayor twice so far. On April 1, 1997, Freital became a major district town and Pollack became Freital's first mayor since 1950. The neighboring community of Pesterwitz was incorporated into his term of office . In the following mayoral election in 2001 Pollack did not run again. His successor was Klaus Mättig (CDU).

In the 2014 local elections, he was re-elected to the Freital City Council and also to the district council of the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district. For health reasons, however, he did not take up his city council mandate and also withdrew from the district council in December 2014.

After a long and serious illness, he died on October 17th, 2015 at the age of 73.
