Ensembles in Bad Feilnbach
Altofing town center
File number: E-1-87-129-1
The ensemble encompasses the small, isolated farming village of Altofing in the meadow slopes of the Wendelstein region that run out to the north. Its history is of medieval origin. It consists of five old farm properties and a few smaller houses as well as a chapel. Among the Einfirsthöfe, which are mostly facing east, the Moarhof from 1667 is particularly notable for its construction and its fresco decorations. The other courtyards and houses, which also include barns and Zuhäuser, are mostly in the 19th and 20th centuries. Century and usually preserve the alpine character of the place. The properties are picturesquely embedded in orchards, the area around Feilnbach is an old fruit-growing area. The charming townscape attracted artists several times at the beginning of the century and prompted the painters Hermann Rothenbucher and Franz Berthold-Buchenau to settle in Altofing.
Kutterling town center
File number: E-1-87-129-2
The farming village is located on a slope, south of the Aiblinger high moor area in a similarly picturesque situation between orchards as the neighboring Altofing (see there). The village settlement is of medieval origin, the nine old properties, loosely arranged in an east-west direction, are single-ridge structures of the alpine type; the lower courtyards are impressively staggered one behind the other. These are 18th-century courtyards with wooden upper floors and 19th-century courtyards with plastered living quarters and balconies. The upper, smaller courtyards and a new residential building are on both sides of the stream. The individual properties include Zuhäuser and Stadl.
The village became world famous when the painters Wilhelm Leibl and Johann Sperl settled in the Kolberhof in Kutterling in 1892 (No. 22) and were inspired by the picturesque character of the place and the area and how they interacted with the locals. Sperl's studio was located in the Schneidergütl (No. 26) for some time.
