Ensembles
Ensemble old town Eibelstadt
The ensemble encompasses the city in its walling on the 15th and 16th centuries. Century. The place first attested in 1096 is of Carolingian origin. The core is defined by the former fortified church, now in the middle of the city, in connection with the property immediately to the west as well as the buildings on the market square and in the upper parts of Pfarrer-Manger-Gasse around the former tower courtyard, the seat of the Reichsvogte . The community, which belonged to the Würzburg Cathedral Chapter from 1266 to 1802, received city rights in 1434 . The subsequent urban expansion has been handed down in its current local form. Within the oval wall ring, listed 1435–1580, a wide, south-east-north-west, market street parallel to the Main cuts the length of the city area. It affects the old fortified church, which remained free on all sides, like an island in the middle of the expanded city. On its narrow sides, wide squares were created in connection with Marktstrasse, the Heumarkt in the northwest and the Marktplatz in the southeast. The main axis running from gate to gate is crossed by a less pronounced transverse axis at the market square, which leads to secondary gates on both the river and mountain sides. The wider, mains-side half of the city is accessed by six cross streets, which consist of small-scale buildings, while the narrower, mountain-side half is mainly occupied by a row of large parcels interrupted by only two cross streets, each of which extends from the main street to the city wall. This imbalance is typical for the Mainorte: on the mountain side, larger wine farms, on the river side, small fishermen, boatmen and craftsmen's properties. While the development of the side streets appears to be largely renewed, the main street still has a number of old buildings on the gable and eaves. It is especially the larger courtyards and inns from the 18th century that give the street its character. Finally, the broad market square is dominated by the closed group of monumental buildings, which form the focus of the place like an island: the late Gothic parish church within the former fortified church and the subsequent stately Baroque town hall from the early 18th century. Boundary: Square in front of the Upper Gate - Gebrüder-Hoffmann-Ring - Square in front of the Main Gate - Path on the outside of the city wall to the Lower Gate - Würzburger Strasse 1,2, 4 - Course of the city wall from Kereturm to the Upper Gate. File number: E-6-79-124-1.
City fortifications
The city fortifications have been preserved almost completely closed. The oval city wall ring made of quarry stone masonry was built after the town was raised from 1434 to around 1580. Of the original four gates, three have been preserved, the so-called Obere or Ochsenfurter Tor in the southeast (see also Hauptstrasse 40), the Untere or Würzburger Tor in the north (see also Hauptstrasse 1) and the Maintor in the southwest (see also Maingasse 31 ). A total of eleven round towers and three shell towers have been preserved. File number: D-6-79-124-1. Starting at the Würzburger Tor, the city fortifications consist of the following objects in a clockwise direction.

Remarks
- ↑ This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
