Oy-Mittelberg - Mittelberg - Church v NW, Nebelmeer, Rau (1) .JPG

The ensemble includes the village of Mittelberg essentially within the limits of the initial listing in the cadastre of 1824. Except for the former pasture plots at Alois-Wagner-Strasse 33 and 23 and the property in the east belonging to the abandoned farmhouse No. 4 (old number). The place is on a mountain slope at about 1000 to 1100 m altitude, on the so-called Gerhalde. Historically, the development of the village was preceded by the construction of a castle stables and the founding of an own church by the Lords of Mittelberg (12th-14th centuries). From 1335 the parish was owned by the Bishop of Augsburg, in 1453 the church and parsonage were given their core shape, which together with the chaplain’s house above the village form a dominant building group. The regularity of the local arrangement - almost all farmhouses face NE and occupy the slope in rows like terraces - suggests that there were planned development as early as the late medieval period. In 1525 100 farmsteads are attested for the parish and 49 for the town in 1621 - a number that remained largely constant until the beginning of the 19th century (cf. first recording for the cadastre 1818). A fire in 1822, to which almost all buildings except a few farmhouses fell victim, gave the impetus for desertification. It is documented in its original form by a new survey of the land registry office in 1824 and has largely been preserved to this day. While the orientation of the property to the NE was maintained, the floor plan was straightened out. The buildings were placed at a distance and in the middle of the property for fire protection. Numerous farmhouses from this period have been preserved; they are mostly open log buildings with flat roofs. Together with some block buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries, they bear witness to the historical development of the place. File number: E-7-80-128-1

Remarks

  1. This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
