Ensembles

Ensemble Maria Loreto

St. Loretto chapels in Oberstdorf.JPG

The prerequisite for the later pilgrimage to Maria Loreto in Oberstdorf was the construction of the Appach chapel under the slope of the Krappberg at the end of the 15th century. The impetus for the establishment of a baroque pilgrimage came in 1643 with the establishment of a way of the cross with ten wayside shrines. The Maria Loreto chapel, built from 1657 onwards, followed the floor plan of the smaller, older Appach chapel and did not copy - as is common practice - the Santa Casa of Loreto. The upswing that the pilgrimage took in the following years made it necessary to build a hostel (1661), which from 1696 also served as a beneficiary's house (Lorettostraße 40). In 1671, another processional chapel, St. Joseph, was built, which as a Holy Sepulcher Chapel forms the end of the Way of the Cross. In this form, the ensemble documents the piety-historical and theological development of a pilgrimage as well as its artistic expression in several buildings of various functions and periods. Ensemble Schrofengasse

Oberstdorf - Schrofengasse No. 5 v S 01.JPG

Schrofengasse, located in the southeastern area of Oberstdorf, branches off from Oststraße, a main axis of the town, to the south and meets Lorettostraße outside the town. Mostly eaves-standing farmhouses, facing south on the gable side, stand in loose, irregular buildings with the associated grass gardens. Some houses are far from the street, so that a loose system of courtyard entrances can be concluded in front of the complex. The rural character is also emphasized by the construction method typical of the area: in addition to open, knitted log buildings under the alpine flat roof - originally with land cover - half-timbered parts also appear. File number: E-7-80-133-2

Ensemble Weiler Gerstruben

Gerstruben B (5) .JPG

The ensemble is formed by a number of former farmhouses from the 17th and 18th centuries and an associated chapel on the slope of the Riffenkopf at a height of 1154 m. The hilltop settlement, which is unique for the Bavarian Alpine region next to Wamberg (district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen), was founded by emigrants from Lechtal in the Middle Ages and was a permanent settlement until 1892. In Gerstruben, almost all farmhouses fully display the original characteristics of their regional and time-bound type. The 17th century Zwiehof (No. 4, formerly also No. 6) with knitted log building walls, land cover on a protruding flat roof and the associated hay barn - also log buildings - is characteristic of the source valleys of the Iller. File number: E-7-80-133-3

Ensemble Weiler Oib

Oberstdorf - Tiefenbach - Oib v NO 01.JPG

The ensemble includes the entire area of the aforementioned farmhouses with the associated properties. - The place Oib is a planned settlement from the 18th century. In 1775 Tiefenbach was almost completely deserted, with 37 farms being relocated. The originally closed town of Tiefenbach dissolved completely, with the exception of a few properties. The desolation took place with the "expansion" of the farms and the places Ferlewang, Bachtel, Oib and probably Reine emerged as new settlements. Oib was founded by regularly dividing the Au ("Oib"), which extends south of the old town of Winkel along the Breitach; it is bounded in the west by the rain forest, in the east and south by the river valleys of Breitach and Starzlach. The farmhouses usually occupy the middle of their large, undivided plots - to protect against fire and for reasons of economy. Some of them have been transferred directly from Tiefenbach to the new corridor (e.g. No. 58, built in the Wasach above Tiefenbach at the end of the 17th century) or they were rebuilt at the time of the resettlement (No. 60). The farmhouses are mostly single-ridge courtyards in block construction, some with clapboards and with land cover; No. 631/2 has a disruptive effect in the ensemble. File number: E-7-80-133-4

Remarks

  1. This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
