Ensembles in parish churches

Ensemble old town parish churches

File number: E-2-77-138-1

Part of the old town

The ensemble encompasses the entire place within the Bering border, including the former fortifications of the wall, moat and rampart that are almost in a square.

Parish churches, a place already settled in Roman times and since the 9th century as "Pharrachiricha" occupied original parish of the middle Rottal, received market rights from the Wittelsbachers at the latest in 1317. In 1259/62 they came into the possession of extensive fiefdoms that had previously passed from the Passau monastery to the Counts of Ortenburg . For their administration, the nearby Reichenberg Castle was expanded by the dukes as the seat of a "Vitztum an der Rott".

In addition to the first local expansion with the construction of the rectangular market square at the beginning of the 14th century, a second expansion was added in the late Gothic period with the inclusion of the hospital and the addition of the square floor plan within the fortification system built at the same time and completed in 1558, although it is not yet clear whether The striking curvature of Lindner Strasse, created by staggering, goes back to an old Vormark settlement or one of the oldest settlement centers next to the church area, perhaps with an administrative function. The basic division, which can still be read today, was accessed through three gates, the Reichenberger Tor at the east end of the town square, the Rott-Tor in the southeast near the hospital and the Eggenfeldener Tor in the northwest; the other two developments on Dr.-Bayer-Strasse to the representative building area in the north and on Bahnhofstrasse in the south took place in the 19th century and were related to the urban survey in 1862/3 and the opening of the Neumarkt / St. Veit-Pocking 1879. A continuous chestnut avenue on the former wall has surrounded the old town since the 19th century and separates it from the suburbs.

The buildings mainly consist of massive pitched roof houses, to a large extent with horizontal ramparts and arcades from the 18th and 19th centuries, although the building fabric often goes back to the 15th century. The fortification wall from the middle of the 16th century still exists in fragments in the northwest with a corner tower, in the north along the Feuerwehrgasse, here also with the rest of the moat, in the east hidden in houses in the town square and Plinganserstrasse, in the south by the height of the Ringstrasse 14 to the south-west corner and from the south-west corner, with the substructure of a corner tower, to the renewed passage south of Lindnerstraße 17.

Mahlgassinger Weg ensemble

File number: E-2-77-138-4 The suburban development with small farms and semi-detached houses, partly in close rows over a staggered floor plan, partly with spaces in between and front gardens, is perhaps the south-facing remnant of a village center in the east of the market development of parish churches. The spatial proximity is visible from the distant effect of the tower of the parish church, which towers over the gable sides with protruding pitched roofs when viewed from the east. The buildings are mostly paneled or clad upper floor block buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries.

Former city fortifications

Tower on the Feuerwehrgasse

There are some preserved sections of the fortification wall, which are partly built over, from the middle of the 16th century (D-2-77-138-15):

  • Southwestern section running along the Ringstrasse between Bahnhofstrasse and Lindner Strasse, partly integrated into the residential building
  • North-western section at Feuerwehrgasse 1 a and Lindnerstraße 14 adjacent
  • Northern section along the Feuerwehrgasse between Dr.-Bayer-Straße and Ringstraße, with loopholes
  • Part in the northern area of the residential and commercial buildings at Stadtplatz 11 to 39, partly integrated into the residential building
  • Eastern section along the Ringstrasse between Plinganser Strasse and Passauer Strasse, built over
  • The southern section runs along the Ringstrasse between Bahnhofstrasse and Pflegestrasse, partly overbuilt

Corner towers, mid-16th century:

  • On the Ringstrasse adjacent to Marienplatz, substructure of a corner tower with a rectangular floor plan
  • To the west of Feuerwehrgasse 1 a, a polygonal corner tower is adjacent

Preserved section of the moat, mid-16th century, from the height of Dr.-Bayer-Straße 6 to the east to Stadtplatz 39.

Remarks

  1. This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
