The monuments of the Swabian market in Türkheim are compiled on this page . This table is a partial list of the list of architectural monuments in Bavaria . The basis is the Bavarian Monument List , which was first drawn up on the basis of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act of October 1, 1973 and has since been managed by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation . The following information does not replace the legally binding information from the monument protection authority.

Ensembles

Ensemble Maximilian-Philipp-Strasse

The core of the former Türkheim Castle Market is established as an ensemble; It is formed from Maximilian-Philipp-Straße, which is freely built on both sides, from Ludwigstor to the confluence with Tussenhausener Straße and includes the parish church with the formerly fortified cemetery as well as the castle and Capuchin monastery with the associated gardens.

The Maximilian-Philipp-Strasse

Türkheim, whose main axis, Maximilian-Philipp-Strasse, follows the course of the Roman road Augsburg-Kempten, was probably built in the early Middle Ages. However, the place only gained greater political and economic importance around 1470 when the mansion was moved from Schwabegg to Türkheim. It found its visible expression in the stately layout of the late Gothic church with a mighty tower (former patronage of St. Martin) and a fortified cemetery.

With the construction of the castle by Wolf Dietrich von Knöringen from 1531 onwards, a princely domain was created as a counterweight at the southern end of the street. The structural expansions and changes that were made and suggested by Duke Maximilian Philipp after he chose Türkheim as his retirement home are characteristic of today's appearance. Work on the palace began in 1682 under the direction of Giovanni Antonio Viscardi , who was only able to do so through the planning of François Cuvilliés the Elder. Ä. and Karl Albert von Lespilliez received its current baroque appearance around 1754 with the mighty hipped roof.

In 1685 the duke founded the Capuchin monastery and church near the castle. An archway has been connecting the two building complexes since 1687 and, in its classicist form, newly built in 1827 as the Ludwigstor, forms the striking southern end of the street. The gate to the cemetery in its shape from 1789 has the effect of a counterpart. The houses on the approximately 300 m long Maximilian-Philipp-Strasse, most of which date from the 18th or 19th century, are free, some facing the street from the eaves and some from the gable. In the northern section, the town hall, which is slightly projected in front of the building lines and was built by the duke in 1702 soon after the market was raised, looks into the street space and allows views to the north and south.

Remarks

  1. This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
