Annals Hall
The Annalsaal (or Hall of the Annals ) is a square room in the Amun temple of Karnak , which was built at the instigation of Thutmose III. was built and is in front of the barque sanctuary. Thutmose III. had the Red Chapel of Hatshepsut torn down behind the new building of the 6th pylon after completion by himself and build a new barque shrine. The rose granite sanctuary that is preserved today is, however, a building by Philip III. Arrhidaios , brother of Alexander the Great , as a replacement for the ruined shrine of Thutmose III.
Inscriptions
On the long walls of the hall there are inscriptions dating from the 40th year of Thutmose III's reign. and report on his previous military actions. It is a very factual record of all campaigns in Asia between the years 23 and 42 (1457 BC to 1438 BC). Mention is also made of the tribute payments made by the subjugated countries and those of the friendly neighboring countries. The inscriptions have been significantly destroyed in some places.
The text is considered authentic and is the most extensive and most important source for the campaigns of Thutmose III. It is a revised short form of a "diary" kept by war writers, which was written on leather rolls and handed over to the temple archives on return.
The two heraldic pillars also belong to the Annalensaal .
