List of Classical Philologists at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf
The Classical Philologists at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf have been teaching Latin and Greek Studies since the seminar for Classical Philology was founded in 1968 . The seminar was set up three years after the university was founded and initially led by only one professor (with a focus on Latin studies), Ilona Opelt , whose assistant was Reinhard Häußler . It was not until 1984 that a second full professorship with a focus on Greek studies was established, which Bernd Manuwald received first. These two chairs for Latin and Greek studies are still regularly occupied today.
In addition to the professors, there are currently (as of November 2009) a junior professor, a research assistant, a private lecturer and ten lecturers at the seminar.
The first column shows the name of the person and their life data, the second column shows entry into the university, and the third column shows their departure. Column four names the highest position achieved at the University of Düsseldorf. At other universities, the corresponding lecturer may have made an even more extensive scientific career. The next column names special features, the career path or other information relating to the university or the seminar. In the last column there are pictures of the lecturers, which is currently difficult due to the image rights.
