Jochem Küppers

Jochem Küppers (also Jochen Küppers , born December 31, 1946 in Haltern ) is a German classical philologist .

Life

Jochen Küppers studied Classical Philology at the University of Bonn , where he received his doctorate in 1975 with the dissertation The Fables of Avian : Studies on the Representation and Narrative of Late Antique Fables (Bonn 1977). He then worked as a research assistant at the university and changed his first name to Jochem . He achieved his habilitation in 1984 with the text Tantarum causas irarum: Investigations on the introductory book dyad of the Punica by Silius Italicus (Berlin / New York 1986). In 1988 he accepted an appointment as a professor at RWTH Aachen University . Two years later he followed a call to the Latinist chair at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . In 1997 he moved to the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf , where he retired after the 2004 summer semester.
