Helmut Krasser (philologist)

Helmut Krasser (* 1959 in Geislingen an der Steige ) is a German classical philologist .

From 1978 to 1986 he studied Latin Philology, German Philology, Middle Latin Philology and Greek Philology at the University of Tübingen . After the state examination in 1984, he worked as a research assistant at the Philological Department of the University of Tübingen until 1990. After his doctorate, which he achieved in 1989 with the dissertation Horazische Denkfiguren: Theophilie und Theophanie as a medium for the poetic self-expression of the Odendichters , he was appointed as a scientific assistant in 1990. After his habilitation ( sine fine lecturias: On reading scenes and literary perceptual habits between Cicero and Gellius , 1996) he was promoted to senior assistant. In 1999, Krasser accepted a professorship for Classical Philology / Latin Philology at the University of Giessen .
