Heinrich Friedrich Pfannkuche
Heinrich Friedrich Pfannkuche (born November 28, 1766 in Kirchtimke near Bremen , † October 7, 1833 in Gießen ) was a German Protestant theologian and classical philologist .
Life
Heinrich Friedrich Pfannkuche was the son of a Protestant clergyman. From 1785 to 1788 he studied theology and philology at the universities of Jena and Göttingen , where the ancient scholar Christian Gottlob Heyne was his teacher. After receiving his doctorate in 1794, Pfannkuche worked as a theological repetitionist at the University of Göttingen from 1797 and in 1798 went to the Johanneum in Bremen as a sub-rector .
At Easter 1803, Pfannkuche moved to the University of Giessen as a professor for the Old Testament and Oriental languages. He particularly represented the Greek language and literature , which at that time were not yet established as a separate subject in Gießen. Under the direction of Professor Friedrich Gottlieb Welcker , the Classical Philology seminar was established in 1812 , where Pfannkuche held lectures and exercises until his death. In his research, Pfannkuche was particularly concerned with the Old Testament and the languages of the Orient.
In addition to his university duties, Pfannkuche also became a professor at the newly established philosophical high school in Giessen. On May 25, 1812 he was awarded the character of a vice director of the institution.

Since then, Pfannkuche's literary activity seems to have been hampered by his teaching, which is said to have been very successful. Reviews of him can be found in several theological journals.
