List of cultural monuments in Merzkirchen

The list of cultural monuments in Merzkirchen contains all the cultural monuments of the Rhineland-Palatinate municipality of Merzkirchen, including the districts of Dittlingen , Kelsen , Körrig , Portz , Rommelfangen and Südlingen . The basis is the list of monuments of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate (as of June 6, 2017).

Host Chapel and Johanneskreuz Körrig, east of the village on the road to Kahren
Lage
1813 Hosten chapel: Quarry stone building, erected in 1813 as a memorial to the battle of Dresden and Leipzig , presumably on the site of a previous chapel. In 1920 the building was renewed and the cross of St. John was attached to its south-western rear. The last renovations took place in 1992 and 2000. Inside there is a pietà on the rear wall on a pedestal , protected from it by an iron grille. The building has the external dimensions 3.37 × 2.99 × 3.72 m (H × W × L) with a round arch portal that leads to the interior.
The 2.10 m high Johanneskreuz , a crucifixion shrine from the 18th century, is badly damaged and weathered. There is an inscription in the shaft that refers to Johannes Baptist .

1857 Wayside chapel; Plastered building, built in 1857 by Katharina Fochs, to commemorate her husband Hilarius Schiltz, who died in 1855. Roof covering made of zinc sheet imitations of tile panels. The chapel has the dimensions 3.14 × 2.40 × 3.20 m (H × W × L) with a wall thickness of 0.50 m. In it stands a stone altar with a metal cross. The chapel was restored in 1997 and 2008. Foch Chapel
