Around 1790 Square cross-section (38 cm below), tapering towards the top, tip probably broken off, inscriptions in German and Sorbian on the north and south sides, historical significance, also known colloquially as the "Russian column". Inscriptions consist of set pieces of various Bible verses.
  • Inscriptions on the north side: "Fear God, honor the authorities, love the brothers and keep your soul that it does not seek to do harm."
  • Inscription on the south side: "Boj so Boha, česć wyšnosć, lubuj bratrow a wobarnuj dušu, zo nochcy škodu činić."

Column from senior attorney and councilor Gottfried Ernst Böhmer / Bemar from Bautzen. It is an extremely valuable monument of Sorbian cultural history, singular importance because only a few monuments with Sorbian inscriptions from the 18th century have survived, significant because it comes from a famous Sorbian family that belonged to the bourgeoisie and was later even raised to the nobility.

1786 Acquired a semi-farm in Auritz from Gottfried Böhmer, used it as a summer residence, laid out a park on a hill south of the village, erected various “pleasure houses”, sculptures and inscription pillars there. 1805 property sold. According to a resident of Auritz, the column was on a hill south of the village and north of the sports field. Sand has been mined there in past decades, and in the 1970s, sand pits were filled with gravel from the track bed renewal by the Deutsche Reichsbahn. The column was probably buried in one of the pits.
