Former sheepfold of the manor
Former sheepfold of the manor Gödelitz 1
(map)
re. 1792 Impressive quarry stone building with a distinctive, steep gable roof in very good original condition, of architectural and regional significance, in 1792 the large sheepfold of the former manor was rebuilt at the instigation of its owner Heinrich Ludwig von Zehmen. The previous building was destroyed in a fire in the same year. Originally, in the place of the later manor there was a Supanien capital, in the Middle Ages there was an outbuilding, which was elevated to a manor in 1764. From 1773 to 1917 it was owned by the von Zehmen family. The history of the manor ends with the sale of the property to the farmer Max Schmidt, who expanded it into a model farm. The large sheepfold still impresses today with its cubature and especially its authenticity. It is certainly one of the few largely original sheep farms from the late 18th century in Saxony. Even with the renovation and conversion of the stable after 1990, the quarry stone outer walls as well as the roof truss and the external appearance were largely preserved and renovated in accordance with the listed buildings. The monumental value of the sheep farm results primarily from its architectural, landscape-defining and regional historical significance. 09208893
