Customs House Am Zollhaus 1b
(map)
around 1870 Plastered building standing in a street-defining location of local and regional historical importance.

In 1859 the Chausseehaus, known as the Ebersbacher Einnehmerhäuschen, was built as a standardized type construction in connection with the construction of the Roßwein – Döbeln valley road. These houses, known as chausseehouses, also called Chaussee money collector houses or Chaussee collector houses, are the residential and service buildings of the roadside attendants and their families. They were created in connection with the expansion of roads and paths into highways at the end of the 18th to the 19th century. The road keepers supervised a certain section of the road and collected the so-called road money, which was used to maintain the road. In Saxony, Napoleon gave the order to convert the roads into highways. Approximately at a distance from the Kursächsische Postmeile columns were built road houses with barriers, at which the carters then had to pay road tolls. The bridge and road toll in Saxony was not lifted until the end of 1885. In this context, the revenue house in the Ebersbach district will also have lost its original function. From then until today it was used as a private residence. Since 1991, the building, which has been under monument protection since 1982, has been renovated in accordance with the requirements of a historical monument.

The type building rises above a rectangular floor plan as a single-storey plastered building with a central projection. The base was designed as a natural stone masonry. The delicate cornices above the window and door openings are characteristic of the building. The single-storey building has a jamb floor with small rectangular windows, which made it possible to use the roof space. The original preserved is a depiction of the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Saxony with a shield divided by the Saxon diamond, the crown and the house order of the diamond crown, which was let in above the windows of the central risalite. The building is one of the most authentic toll collection houses in the Central Saxony district. This gives the house great importance for the history of transport in Saxony. Furthermore, it is also a well-preserved example of the building trade from its time of origin, from which an architectural historical significance can be derived.
