Notre-Dame-des-Trois-Épis chapel | The pilgrimage of Trois-Épis originated in 1491 with an apparition of Mary. Soon the first wooden chapel was built at the place of the apparition, which was replaced by a new stone building between 1493 and 1503. First a hermit lived here, later a clergyman. In 1332 the Swedes looted the chapel and in 1636 it was burned down. In 1640 it was finally rebuilt. From 1651 the Cistercians from Paris took over the chapel and built a monastery. In 1779 this was taken over by the Capuchins. During the French Revolution, the chapel was secularized and bought by the citizens of Ammerschwihr. They returned them to the Capuchins in 1804. Today the monastery is inhabited by Redemptorists. They built a new church in the 20th century, but the chapel remained as a place of devotion to Mary. The chapel connects directly to the monastery building and is a small rectangular hall with a retracted choir with a three-sided end. A ridge turret with a curved hood sits on the saddle roof of the choir. Gothic lancet windows illuminate the interior.

Meywihr Castle | In 1950 the remains of a donjon were exposed on the southern edge of the village . The castle was first mentioned in 1279. Its beginnings go back to the 10th century. At the beginning of the 13th century the castle belonged to the Counts of Pfirt , and later to the Lords of Rappoltstein . In the 14th century the castle was abandoned, fell into disrepair and was finally used as a quarry. Only a few remains have survived, including parts of a square residential tower made of red sandstone with roughly hewn corner blocks. A little further south are the ruins of the former chapel of the submerged town of Minnewiller.

St Martin Church | The oldest part of the church is the west tower from the 14th century and the rectangular choir. Between 1564 and 1585, Claus Wigand built today's church as a basilica on the foundations of a medieval church and relocated the tower. The middle and side aisles are separated by arched arcades on round pillars.

South-east corner of the city fortifications | In 1367 the imperial bailiff granted Ammerschwihr city rights and allowed the construction of a city wall. This was built from 1388, as evidenced by the remains of the wall. In addition to the walls, four city gates were also built: the Obertor in the west, the Lower Gate in the east, the Kaysersberg Gate in the north and the Colmar Gate in the south. From this first wall, the upper gate, the tower on the southeast corner and the citizen tower have been preserved. The fortification was modernized in the 16th century. A second wall was placed in front of the first in the south, and new city gates were built in the west and east. The rogue tower was built as protection at the new lower gate. The walls were abandoned in the 18th century. The walled gates in the north and south were opened again in 1803. In 1806 most of the walls were razed and the moat was filled in in 1866/67.

Wild Man Fountain | In the center of the hexagonal well basin stands a column with a bulbous entasis . In the lower part, foliage disguises the column, above it sit lions with spouts in their mouths, between them figures. The column ends with a capital. A bearded man stands on it with a stick and a coat of arms. The fountain, built in 1560, was badly damaged in World War II and was not restored until after 1971.

Ruins of the old town hall | According to an inscription in the stair tower, the town hall was built in 1552 by Colmar Anton Fromm in the Renaissance style. 20 stonemasons' marks from 11 stonemasons have been preserved. There was a large boardroom on the first floor. The three windows facing the street were separated by pillars with acanthus leaves. The town hall was destroyed in the winter of 1944. However, photographs from 1914 document the original condition. Only the outer walls of the gable facade and the remains of an inner stair tower are preserved. The arched entrance portal with Renaissance portal and the side portal to the stair tower bear witness to the building's former architectural wealth. Two pilasters support an entablature here. Above it sits a gable field with two lions bearing a coat of arms. Above it the year 1557.

Residential building | The house probably dates from the 17th century and was probably changed in the 18th century. Changes may also have been made in 1858. This year can be found together with the initials of the owner at the time in a stone in the corner cuboid. The gable-facing plastered building is set back in a courtyard with ancillary buildings. The gable was built in half-timbered construction. Its top is covered with wood. The windows are partly designed with segment arches, others with round arches. The cellar is only partially sunk into the ground.

Upper gate | The Upper Gate ( Porte Haute ) is one of the oldest in the city and was built as part of the fortifications towards the end of the 14th century. The 20 meter high tower has a high roof and sits directly in the fortifications. Retaining walls hold the turn in the lower third, the corner cuboids are highlighted. The upper floor was designed in half-timbered construction. The gateway is designed with a round arch on the city side and a pointed arch on the outside.

Citizen Tower | The town tower was built as part of the construction of the first city fortifications from 1388. It is also known as the "oil tower" ( Tour de pétrole ) - probably because it served as an oil store . The tower was changed in the 17th century: it was given loopholes. The semicircular tower out of town was built from rubble stones and has corner blocks. A keel arch frieze on consoles sits below the upper floor. A door from 1511 shows the coats of arms of the ruling lords of the city.

Rogue Tower | The round tower was built in 1535 over a high sandstone base as part of the second fortress wall. Presumably it was built in place of an older tower from the 14th century. The three floors of the tower are separated by cornices. There are eye-catching loopholes on the two lower floors. A conical roof protects the walls.
