Kaysersberg Monastery | In 1460, Franciscans who had previously lived outside of Kaysersberg settled in the city. In 1483 they built a church, in 1487 a convent building. From 1566 to 1601 the monastery was empty. After the return of the monks, the church was rebuilt in 1780, but the Franciscans left the city again in 1791 after the French Revolution. The army then used the building until the auction in 1796. The church was not sold until 1853 and converted into a hospital in 1854/55. Ceilings were drawn in and the choir was converted into a kitchen. The other buildings were converted into a hospital in 1906. In 1932 the monastery was restored by Christian Schoffit. The three-story church building still has its facade on the gable side, which is crowned by a roof turret. The baroque portal was walled up. Pilaster strips structure the facade. Above the portal sits a festoon, and above it the remains of a cornice, and a niche with a figure cranked with an oculus. The eaves cantilever extends through the gable foot.

After that, the monastery was demolished for the construction of surrounding houses and industrial buildings. Kaysersberg Castle | The defiant castle was built around 1220 by the imperial mayor Albin Woelflin and taken over by the Lords of Horburg and Rappoltstein in 1227 . The round keep is the oldest part of the fortress. In 1261 the first enclosure wall was renewed and raised in the 14th century. The structure was modernized in the 15th century. During the peasant wars the fortress was besieged in 1524/25 and finally badly damaged. It was not until 1583 that Lazarus von Schwendi rebuilt the fortress. But the castle was abandoned at the end of the 16th century. At the end of the 18th century, François Joseph Boecklin de Boecklinsau acquired the complex. The fortress was built from granite as an irregular polygon. The 11 meter high keep towers at the highest point, and a shield wall secures the castle from the slope. The residential buildings were leaned against this wall.
