history

Sigolsheim was first mentioned in writing as "Sigoltmarca" in 768, but there is evidence of an earlier settlement (Roman villa).

In 1944/45 the place was badly affected during the fighting over the bridgehead Alsace ( French Poche de Colmar ). A national military cemetery on Blutberg commemorates this time. The heavily damaged Romanesque church of St. Peter , built around 1200, was restored from 1950 to 1960.
