The oldest part of the complex, a residential tower , dates from the early 12th century. Towards the end of the 12th century, the castle was enlarged by a keep, a hall and another residential tower and expanded again in the 13th century. Providence Church | The Augustinian convent was founded in 1297, but the convent building that is preserved today dates from the last quarter of the 18th century. The church was built as a basilica in the 13th and 14th centuries on the remains of an older church. The two-part portal was built around 1360 and shows a mother of God in the central pillar. A four-bay choir with ⅝-end is attached to the central nave with five bays.

City fortifications | Ribeauvillé was first mentioned in the 8th century. From the 12th century, the city belonged to the Lords of Rappoltstein. Between 1284 and 1287 they built a city wall. In the 13th and 14th centuries, the wall had to be expanded to protect the upper town and later suburbs as well. The most important remnant of this old fortification is the butcher's tower , which was built in the late 13th century between the upper and middle town and raised in 1536 by two upper floors and a platform with tracery parapet . In the clock tower there is a bell that rang in the night curfew in the Middle Ages. Several round towers with remains of the city wall have also been preserved.

Hospital garden | The park was laid out for the palace by an unknown garden architect between 1619 and 1639 at the instigation of Eberhard von Rappoltstein . The area is divided into five terraces and has been upgraded with benches and fountains. The sculptures were created by Hans-Joseph Brosch in 1735. In 1791 the castle became a prison, later a rehabilitation center for soldiers. In 1802 the park was sold to the surveyor Kuhlmann. The garden remained in private hands from then on, while the castle was converted into a school. A well, the orangery and the greenhouse were demolished. In addition, the nursery, the beds and the vegetable garden disappeared.

Former hospital | It was the men of Rappoltstein who founded a poor house in the village in the 14th century. According to an inscription on the building, it was rebuilt in 1542: “To honor de almecht / ige and igen exercise / cristlicher dear is moved / was a first burgersch / afft alhie zu buwe and stifft / en disses of poor lutt huss / which will be eternal Un / prevented who / the anno 1542 was preserved ”. In 1739 it had to be rebuilt: "In the year MDCCXXXIX, this hospital was completely rebuilt on the ancient square". After a new construction, the building was converted into a residential building in the 20th century. On the narrow side of the square, the building has two axes, which are designed as doors on the ground floor. The two-storey plastered building with a hipped roof has five axes on the long sides.

Notre-Dame de Dusenbach chapel | In the 13th century, the Lords of Rappoltstein donated three chapels. Egenolf II laid the foundation stone to thank him for his return from a crusade in 1218. In 1260 a second chapel was added. Anselm II zu Rappoltstein finally built a third chapel towards the end of the 13th century. After the English sacked the chapels, they were restored in 1365. In 1632 the chapels were destroyed again and rebuilt between 1760 and 1767, but burned down again in 1794. The ruins remained untouched for a long time until they were rebuilt again in 1893/94. The two Gothic chapels sit on a rock on the slope. The front is vaulted with a single nave with five bays and a three-sided choir, the rear with a square hall and a three-quarter choir with two bays. A Capuchin monastery building is attached to the chapels. The third chapel is a little apart and is neo-Gothic.
