The trunk road network in Cambodia consists of eight National Highways (NH), some also referred to as National Roads (NR), Route Nationale (RN), or simply with a single digit.
Six highways begin in Phnom Penh and lead in a star shape to distant parts of the country (NH 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6). They are numbered clockwise starting from Phnom Penh, with Highway 1 starting southeast of Phnom Penh.
Five trunk roads end at the national border (NH 1, 2, 4, 5, 7).
