This is a list of the number one hits in Austria in 1979. It is based on the singles and album lists of the Austrian charts . The top 25 single and album charts were published on the 15th of each month. On January 1, 1980, the half-monthly charts were changed so that the charts from December 15 were only valid up to and including December 31.
