Karoline Eisenberger continued to run the butcher's shop after her husband's death in 1926, but probably moved in 1934 to her son and his family at Brunnengasse 10. In the same year she is said to have bought her son a butcher's shop there. Sales were still recorded, but after a continuous decline, they were almost completely absent in 1938. The Wiesbaden butchers were particularly exposed to the harassment of the National Socialists. |

Leopold Kussel also had a stationery shop there, in which he mainly sold school supplies, and ran a bookbindery. With the money that the business brought in, he bought the house at Sackgasse 2. After the transfer of power to Adolf Hitler and the boycott of Jewish shops in April 1933, the Obergasse 10 butcher's shop in Frauenstein continued to decline, so that Selma Salmon had to give up the business, all the more since there was a pronounced anti-Jewish atmosphere in Frauenstein and the Salmons were the only Jews were in place. Elisabeth Weyrauch was Jewish, Fritz Weyrauch was a Christian, the couple had no children. Fritz Weyrauch ran the paint and varnish factory Brandscheid & Weyrauch in Wiesbaden Biebrich. The company, an OHG, had three managing directors and existed until 1941, until that year trade tax was paid. The couple had lived at Nassauer Str. 47 since 1934. With the beginning of Nazi rule, the social pressure on people in so-called mixed marriages increased. Authorities attempted to separate “Aryans” from their Jewish spouses with bribes and threats. After 1938, a new marriage and divorce law legalized the annulment of "mixed marriages". Elisabeth and Fritz Weyrauch stood by their marriage regardless of official harassment. |
