May 15, 2015 | The sisters Lucia Rebekka Frankfurter and Alma Meyer had lived together on the first floor at Weißenburgstrasse 6 in Wiesbaden since the beginning of the Nazi era. They had no assets or a bank account. In her apartment, Alma Meyer cooked for two or three women she knew from Jews in order to earn a living. Former neighbors remember that the sisters lived very secluded, but, even childless, had a heart for children. They comforted people with grief and gave sweets. | ||

Eugen Blühdorn (born August 1st, 1893 in Cologne) could not get over the loss of the company (a well-known fashion goods store in Cologne, Hohe Strasse) and his work. In 1933 the family moved to Wiesbaden. Blühdorn had been suffering from nervous disorders ever since, had to seek treatment and, when he was scheduled for deportation, committed suicide on May 23, 1942

She was born on August 12, 1896 in Charlottenbrunn district of Waldenburg. Her wealthy family owned a ceramic factory in Charlottenbrunn near Breslau. Like many young people at the beginning of the 19th century, Erich and Elli Frankl were enthusiastic about the Wandervogel movement . |

In 21 they opened a storefront for manufactured goods as well as for wool and white goods. Chaja worked in the shop. Business partners described the Kehs as hardworking and righteous people. |

Jacob Rosenberg came to Germany at the age of 25 and completed a teacher training course at the Jewish teacher training college in Cologne. In 1905 he moved to Bierstadt and was employed by the Jewish community first as a cantor and from 1908 as a religion teacher. As a cantor, he led the service at the synagogue and, as a religion teacher, fulfilled an important role in community life with his Bible lessons for 5- to 10-year-olds. |

The residential and business premises were initially at Helenenstrasse 13, from 1923 at Webergasse 58 and since June 1929 at Helenenstrasse 23. Business in the 1920s was not going well. The years 1929 and 1930 were particularly difficult. With the beginning of the National Socialists' rule and the associated boycott measures, the economic situation deteriorated further. |
