The list of the stumbling blocks in Wiesbaden leads the artist Gunter Demnig laid stumbling blocks in Wiesbaden on. (As of December 2019: in Wiesbaden in the city center and the suburbs in front of 301 houses 672 stumbling blocks). The Active Museum Spiegelgasse for German-Jewish History in Wiesbaden eV has been laying the stumbling blocks in the city of Wiesbaden and the suburbs in collaboration with the artist since 2008. The city of Wiesbaden supports the project through the decision of the committee for citizen participation, international understanding and integration of the city parliament.

The citizens of the city can support the memory of the victims of the Nazi terror in Wiesbaden with a stumbling block sponsorship. The reference point for a sponsorship can be the street or the house where the people lived and who should be remembered, maybe also the job of the victims or the contact with their descendants and family members of the victims who were able to save themselves.

Up to 1933, over 3000 people of Jewish faith or of Jewish origin lived in Wiesbaden. By the end of October 1938, around 80 of them were deported to Poland. At the beginning of 1942, only around 1,000 so-called “full Jews” were registered by the Nazi racists in the city. On May 23, 1942, the first 27, and then on June 10, a further approx. 380 Jews were deported eastwards by Reichsbahn via Frankfurt am Main to be murdered there. When the Americans marched in in the spring of 1945, there were only about 20 people of Jewish origin in Wiesbaden. Half of the Jews who were once at home here fell victim to the National Socialist genocide .

Due to differences between the Active Museum Spiegelgasse in Wiesbaden and the artist Gunter Demnig, no more stumbling blocks were laid in the city area from November 2017 (again from July 2018). It is about the use of terms from the Nazi language on the small memorials, according to the museum association, which coordinates the laying of the stumbling blocks. Demnig, on the other hand, emphasizes on his website that the clear language on the stumbling blocks should document contemporary history. The lettering was criticized in 2014 when stumbling blocks were laid.
