The building is a three-winged construction from the Baroque period , built around 1731. Around 1454 the Wasenhof was located on the site. The facility was donated to the Stephaniestiftung in 1883 and set up as a home for handicapped children. It has been owned by the municipality of Vienna since 1939.

As a replacement for the Perlashof, which had become too small, the Sisters of Mercy of St. Charles Borromeo built a new building in 1897 , which is characterized as a monumental late-historical four - wing building , and in 1902 a monastery church was built. In 1949 it became the "Biedermannsdorf Women's Trade School". The church was profaned and has been a library since 1982. The building was bought by the community of Biedermannsdorf on June 16, 1982 and rented to the Ministry of Education, and a higher federal college for economic professions was opened in it.

The church is consecrated to Saint John the Baptist and is a medieval , but otherwise baroque building, built by Franz Jäckl from 1727 to 1728 . The late baroque high altar shows the baptism of Christ by John the Baptist. Two side altars and a late Baroque pulpit are also part of the furnishings. A Kaufmann organ from 1892 stands in the organ gallery.

The memorial stone commemorates Maria Theresia , who had a street built between Schönbrunn and Laxenburg in 1743 (today's Schönbrunner Allee). The stone inscription plaque was originally on the west side of the bridge foundation and was raised to street level in 1996. Translation of the Latin inscription: “Augusta Maria Theresa by God's grace, Queen of Hungary and Bohemia, Archduchess of Austria, granddaughter of Leopold the Great, daughter of Charles, had this path built here. 1743. “ The abbreviations P: F: O: P: M: P mean: Pia filia orum, pia mater populorum (lovely daughter of the realms, lovely mother of nations).

The complex was originally a baroque country palace, the Perlashof. After several changes of ownership, it was acquired by the Sisters of Mercy from St. Charles Borromeo in 1882, and in 1883 they opened an orphanage and a primary school there. In 1897 the company moved to the newly built Borromäum.
