Remains of pile-like buildings, so-called Packwerkbauten , which were erected by Bavarian settlers after 500 AD in the shore zone directly in front of today's Fuschl Castle and are probably related to fishing on Lake Fuschl . They show that settlement activity on the lake took place again at that time. The remains of the so-called Packwerkbauten extend over the bank areas in the municipality of Hof bei Salzburg and the adjacent lake areas in the municipality of Fuschl . |

The smoke house is built as a typical courtyard and got its name because the smoke is drawn from the open hearth without a chimney. The resulting soot deposit is responsible for the characteristic black color. Today the building is used for events. |
