Schoberkapelle am Rettenbach ObjectID : 48851 |
Rettenbach location KG: Stranach |
The Schoberkapelle (actually Filialkirche Heilige Maria ) is a small building erected in 1848 as a private chapel with a semicircular apse and a south-western gable tower with a curved pyramid roof. In the north-west of the main building there is a sacristy extension with a pent roof. The interior is flat and divided by a triumphal arch. The ceiling painting shows the Most Holy Trinity. The center image is surrounded by grisaille medallions depicting the four evangelists. There are paintings on the nave walls showing Saints Peter and Paul. The simple aedical altar, built in the baroque style, has a strictly classical structure. The veil boards are provided with figures of saints, next to the column bases there are figures of Saint Joseph with the child and Saint Mary. The altarpiece shows Mary as Queen of Heaven and is labeled Kristian Holringer . Two notable baroque oil paintings have the stigmatization of Saint Francis of Assisi and Saint Ivo, advocate of the poor, as their theme (marked 1714 ). In the sacristy there is a historicist crucifix and another baroque oil painting with the martyrdom of St. Lawrence. |
