Neolithic pile building station Nussdorf ObjektID : 130422 since 2014 |
KG location : Nussdorf |
The Neolithic pile building station Nussdorf has a size of 0.9 hectares and extends over 200 meters along the western bank of the Attersee. It was settled from around 3500 to 2500 years before our era.
Wurmbrand suspected a pile construction station at this point as early as 1870. However, it was not until 1983 that Johann Offenberger discovered the station as part of a systematic search. No pile remains can be seen on the lake bed, they are covered by a thick layer of marl and calcareous mud. That is why the station is one of the best preserved in the Attersee. |
