There were three prehistoric pile building stations in the Attersee parish, the remains of which extend over the Abtsdorf and Attersee cadastral parishes .
  • The Abtsdorf I ( Lage ) station is 110 × 80 m in size at a 3 m deep point about 200 m from the west bank of the lake. It is the largest and youngest of the three stations and was inhabited from around 1500 to 1000 years before our era. It lies roughly in the middle between the stations Abtsdorf II in the north and Abtsdorf III in the south.
  • The Abtsdorf II station ( Lage ) is 105 × 40 m in size and about 60 to 80 m from the bank; she was disturbed by a footbridge through her center. Settlement period from 4000 to 3000 BC.
  • The Abtsdorf III ( Lage ) station is the smallest of the three stations at 60 × 20 m and was settled from around 4000 to 3000 years before our era.

The pile dwellings Abtsdorf I and Abtsdorf III are two of a total of 111 pile dwellings in the Alpine region that were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for Prehistoric Pile Dwellings around the Alps in 2011.
