Breitenschützing station was the railway junction for coal transport from the Wolfsegg-Kohlgrube mining area from 1854 to 1965 . In 2014, technical equipment and the toilet facilities of the train station were housed in the former reception building.
The church on the Philippsberg was built around 1488 and changed to Baroque style at the beginning of the 18th century. It has a Gothic single nave nave with two bays and ribbed vaults. The baroque single-bay choir with a square floor plan is slightly drawn in opposite the nave. The brick roof turret wears an onion helmet. At the altar there is a baroque crucifixion group with life-size figures. From Maundy Thursday to Holy Saturday, a mechanical fasting nativity scene from 1719 with scenes from the Passion of Christ is shown in the church.
