The Lohholz is an isolated deciduous forest area , it lies between the communities Eckolstädt (district Weimarer Land ) and Hirschroda ( Saale-Holzland district ), it has a total area of 30.4 hectares as a nature reserve .
In addition to the forest area, the nature reserve also includes a meadow orchard and in the east the area of a smooth oat and wet meadow .
A short spring brook rises in the forest, flowing eastward and past the Hirschrodaer Grund and opposite Wichmar flows into the Saale .
It should not be confused with the so-called Lohholz above the castle park of Tiefurt , whose steep slope was included in the park design from 1776! Its uppermost limit is the Vergilgrotte Tiefurt .
