The Zeitzer Forst nature reserve is located in the Saale-Holzland district and in the area of ​​the independent city of Gera in Thuringia .

It extends east of the core town of Silbitz and north of Steinbrücken , a district of the city of Gera. The White Elster flows to the west, and the border with Saxony-Anhalt runs along the northern edge of the area .
