The Lohne is a right-hand tributary of the Hunte . It flows exclusively in the southern area of the Diepholz district ( Lower Saxony ). The Lohne is not a naturally formed river. Its southern section was built in 1586 and 1587 by order of the Celle government as a drainage channel, mainly for draining the Diepholzer quarry. The section through Diepholz was laid out after 1769. The wages became the main drain of the Dümmer.

course

The 10.5 kilometer long Lohne runs exclusively between the Lower Saxon inland lake Dümmer and the Lower Saxon district town of Diepholz . It rises from the Dümmer, at its northeast corner, then flows in a northerly direction, crosses under the federal highway 51 on the city limits of Diepholz to the integrated municipality of Altes Amt Lemförde and then flows east of the B 51.

South of the town center of Diepholz it gives off the Strothe in an easterly direction, which flows northeast of the Diepholz town center into the Grawiede . The Lohne itself flows through the center of Diepholz. In the vicinity of the castle, it splits into front and rear wages (Mühlkanal) and shortly thereafter comes together again at the point where the Diepholz watermill stood until 1928. North of this confluence, the Lohne flows as a flute to its confluence with the Hunte, directly south of the Thouarsstrasse.
