Lon Milo DuQuette (born July 11, 1948 in Long Beach , California ) is an American author , occultist , thelemite and musician.

Biographical

DuQuette was born in California to Clifford, an oil engineer, and Lucinda DuQuette, but grew up in Columbus , Nebraska . He was raised Methodist and was also an altar boy for the Methodist Church in Columbus during his childhood and early teens. In 1966 he moved to California, the state in which he was born. Two years later he and his wife Constance moved to the hippie commune Takilma in Oregon, where they lived until 1970.

Artistic career

In 1970 DuQuette's country / folk / rock band Charley D. & Milo got a record deal with the major label Epic Records . Therefore, the DuQuettes decided to return to California because there was also the opportunity for live performances. The first self-titled record sold very well , according to Billboard magazine. The second single was even a number one hit in several cities. During this time DuQuette also studied acting for a year at the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute .

Musically, it can best be classified in the folk genre.

Esoteric career

In 1973, shortly after the death of his father, who was himself a Freemason, he joined the esoteric association AMORC . On November 15, 1975 he was admitted to the Minerval Degree of Ordo Templi Orientis . There he is still one of the highest-grade members in the USA (as of 2009) and is also Archbishop of the Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica . He is also active in regular Freemasonry and during his early days he worked with the famous occultist of the Golden Dawn tradition Israel Regardie .

Career as a book author

Lon Milo DuQuette has written a total of 13 books on various topics of magic and the occult by 2009. Areas such as Goëtie , Enochian magic, Kabbalah , Tarot and the esoteric side of Freemasonry are among his areas of expertise. Best known is his work The Chicken Qabalah of Rabbi Lamed Ben Clifford , in which he offers a humorous introduction to this form of Jewish mysticism . The main character of the book, the witty and humorous fictional Rabbi Lamed Ben Clifford is named after his father Clifford DuQuette. His work on the Thoth Tarot by Aleister Crowley has also been translated into German and is available in bookshops. He not only writes specialist books, but also fiction, as his work Accidental Christ proves. Common to all of his works is the humor and wit that is typical of DuQuette.

Several DVDs and CDs on the subjects of esotericism, magic and freemasonry were and are produced by DuQuette. He regularly goes on worldwide reading trips and gives seminars on a wide variety of his specialist topics. So far, Lon Milo DuQuette has been to Germany twice: In 2008, he presented his new work Enochian Vision Magick in Hamburg . In 2012 he held a live concert in a Berlin scene club and spoke on the subject of The Magick of Thelema ... a sacred Heresy for the 21st Century .

His autobiography, My Life With The Spirits , is used as teaching material at DePaul Catholic University in Chicago , Illinois . DePaul University is the largest Catholic university in the United States.

DuQuette today

He now lives in Costa Mesa , California with his wife Constance Jean DuQuette, who he has been with since high school , and has one son.
