Lorena Handschin (born April 3, 1996 in Basel ) is a Swiss actress .

Life

Lorena Handschin grew up in Basel, where after the Sevogel primary school and the Gellert orientation school she attended the Leonhard grammar school with a focus on music. In 2011/12 she was in Denmark for an exchange year . She received cello and piano lessons at the Basel Music Academy . After graduating from high school in 2014, she gained her first stage experience in the 2014/15 season at the Junge Theater Basel under the direction of Suna Gürler and Daniel Wahl in Strom and Camp Cäsar . In 2015 she began studying acting at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts , which she completed in 2019.

During her studies she played the role of Luisa in Until the Last Dance at the Wilhelma-Theater and the Junge Ensemble Stuttgart (JES) in the 2017/18 season as well as the role of Lenina in the stage version of Brave New World at the Staatstheater Stuttgart . In 2017/18 she received the Migros Culture Percentage Study and Promotion Prize .

In February 2019 she premiered at the Nationaltheater Mannheim as Lila in a stage version of Meine geniale Freund by Elena Ferrante . Since the 2019/20 season she has been a permanent member of the ensemble at the Deutsches Theater Berlin , where she is in the stage version of Tschick , in Transit as Marie, in Wolken.Heim. by Elfriede Jelinek , in jedermann (dies) by Ferdinand Schmalz and in at our feet, the gold, disappeared from the ground by Svealena Kutschke when Kim was on stage.

At the beginning of 2020 she was awarded the Prix ​​Swissperform , the former Swiss television film award , as best leading actress for No. 47 at the Solothurn Film Festival. Handschin played the role of nurse Sophie Roth in the 4th season of the SRF series.
