Lars-Olav Beier

Lars-Olav Beier (* 1965 in Bielefeld ) is a German journalist , film critic and non-fiction author .

Life

Beier's family originally comes from Magdeburg , but left the GDR before he was born . Beier grew up in Oelde in the Münsterland . He has an older sister.

Beier studied theater studies and philosophy . He is an editor in the culture department of Spiegel . Beier also wrote for the FAZ , Steadycam , Filmbulletin - magazine for film and cinema (formerly called "Filmbulletin - cinema at eye level"), tip and Focus .

As an author or editor, he has published non-fiction books on filmmakers such as Sophia Loren , Robert Wise , Clint Eastwood , Arthur Penn , Stanley Kubrick and Alfred Hitchcock . He also wrote the screenplay for Mennan Yapo's thriller Lautlos (2004).

Since 2009, Beier has been a member of the jury of the German Audio Film Award every year .
