Lori Williams
Lori Williams (born March 23, 1946 in Pittsburgh ) is an American film actress .
Appearance in Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!
She first appeared in supporting roles as a dancer in beach party films and films with Elvis Presley , including Kissin 'Cousins (1964) . Russ Meyer selected her during a casting for a role in his sexploitation film “Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! ” (Eng .:“ The Satanswives of Tittfield ”). Both sides hesitated before commitment: Williams startled Meyers reputation as soft porn - Director from, for Meyer, she was initially not twist enough. However, he was looking for an actress for a role opposite to the other two leading actresses Tura Satana and Haji and finally decided on them. She found the atmosphere during filming to be very good, and made friends with Susan Bernard . At first she lacked any acting experience, so she didn't know how to act in the first shot, a table dance in a bar. She also learned to drive while filming . She found some scenes too affected and kitschy, so she should lie down on a Porsche while filming. Meyer, who she felt as a father figure, suggested to her, however, to overcome her aversion, which she did. In retrospect, she thinks Meyer's decisions were correct, the oversubscription made the film successful later.
"When I see that movie now, I see all the characters as a comic book come to life. I would have lines laying atop the Porsche. Nobody does that. I fought Russ on that. I had studied serious acting. Why don't I just talk? He said, 'You don't understand, this is a cartoon, this is a camp, exaggerate it, be corny.' And he was right.
From today's perspective, I see these characters as comic characters come alive. I had scenes in which I was lying on top of the Porsche. Nobody does that. I argued with Russ about it. I had learned serious acting. Why don't I just talk? He said, 'You don't understand, this is a cartoon, this is kitsch, exaggerate, be kitsch.' And he was right. "
Further career
After shooting with Meyer, she went to Las Vegas and worked as a dancer at Caesars Palace . Meyer tried to win her for a role in the film Flowers Without Scent , but she turned it down because of other commissions. She first made a few films in Italy and returned to the US in the 1970s, where she took on roles in several episodes of Charlie's Angels . In a film version of this series, she recognized elements of the comic aesthetic and the feminist message of "Faster, Pussycat ..." . When she was 32, she had difficulties getting hired because of her age and assisted in casting at the Universal film studios . She also worked as a realtor in Southern California .
In 2005 she appeared in the documentary Go, Pussycat, Go! about the creation of Faster, Pussycat ... on.
