Los Palacios is a municipality and a city in the Cuban province of Pinar del Río .

39,072 inhabitants live in the municipality, which corresponds to a population density of around 49.7 inhabitants per square kilometer.

The main economic branch of the municipality is agriculture. The main crops are tobacco, rice, sugar cane, fruits and vegetables.

The city of Los Palacios was founded in 1760 and became the administrative seat of the municipality in 1879.

On August 30, 2008, Hurricane Gustav moved through the city with wind peaks of up to 340 km / h and caused severe damage.
