San Luis is a city and a municipality in the province of Pinar del Rio in Cuba . There is mainly arable farming - such as the cultivation of tobacco , rice , fruit - and livestock .

The municipality is divided into the following localities: Barbacoas, Barrigonas, Coloma, Llanadas, Palizadas, Río Seco, San Luis and Tirado.

The city was founded in 1827 and became a municipality in 1879 when it split from San Juan y Martínez . In 2012 the municipality of San Luis had a population of 33,039. With an area of ​​765 km², this results in a population density of 43.2 inhabitants per km².
