Lothar Heinecke (born March 30, 1933 in Zschornewitz , Wittenberg district ; † February 21, 1985 ) was a German naval officer , most recently Rear Admiral of the People's Navy .

biography

The son of an employee of the Deutsche Reichsbahn completed an apprenticeship as a fitter after attending school from 1947 to 1950, before he joined the GDR's Maritime Police Headquarters on September 3, 1950 as a course student at the Parow Sea Police School . In 1950 he also joined the SED . After a special course in the USSR from 1952 to 1954, he became a blocking officer in the subdivision for combat training of the See People's Police in Sassnitz , Peenemünde . In 1956 he joined the 4th Flotilla in Warnemünde as a blocking torpedo officer and was then an officer student at the Naval War Academy of the Soviet Union from 1959 to 1962, where he graduated as a military scientist. After his return he became chief of the security brigade of the 4th Flotilla in 1963, shortly thereafter chief of the light torpedo speedboat brigade of the 6th Flotilla on Rügen and again a short time later in 1963 deputy chief and chief of staff of the 6th Flotilla. On December 1, 1964, he was the frigate captain in command of the 1st flotilla in Peenemünde on Usedom . On October 7, 1969, he was promoted to captain at sea as part of the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the GDR . After six years of activity, he became Deputy Chief of Staff for Training in the People's Navy on September 1, 1970 . In 1972 he was appointed Deputy Chief of the People's Navy and Chief of Training and in this position was appointed Rear Admiral on March 1, 1974 . In this capacity he died on duty.

For his military services he was awarded, among other things, the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze and the battle medal “For merits to the people and fatherland” in gold.
