Lothar Neupert (born January 27, 1936 - October 2, 2015 ) was a German football goalkeeper. From 1955 to 1963 he played for SC Wismut Karl-Marx-Stadt and BSG Wismut Aue 45 games in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football . In 1959 he was GDR soccer champion with SC Wismut.

Athletic career

His first competitive game in the league team of Aue- based SC Wismut Karl-Marx-Stadt played goalkeeper Neupert in the transition round in 1955 , which was played in autumn with 13 games to switch to the calendar year rhythm. In 1956 and 1957 he was only the third goalkeeper behind Kurt Steinbach and Heinz Hippmann and was not used in the league games. In 1958 he was able to outstrip Steinbach (one game) and was used four times in the major league. He also played two of the eight games of SC Wismut in the European Cup in 1958/59 . After Neupert had only played one game in the major league in 1959, when SC Wismut was GDR champion for the second time, coach Gerhard Hofmann promoted him to regular goalkeeper in 1960. He was in the league team from the first day of the match and was used 22 times in a total of 26 league games. Of the three European Cup games in 1960 , he played two games. In 1961, GDR football was played back to the summer-spring rhythm, and a mammoth season with 39 games was played in the major league. Neupert played the first three point games, but was then replaced by Klaus Thiele and later by Manfred Hambeck . In the seasons 1961/62 to 1963/64 he was only 17 times in the goal of the Wismut league team. Neupert completed his last league point game on October 6, 1963 for the company sports community (BSG) Wismut Aue, which had been spun off from the Wismut sports club in the summer of 1963. He remained a member of the BSG and was in the 1971/72 season for a second division game in the goal of the 2nd team of Wismut Aue. After that, Lothar Neupert did not have any further appearances in higher-class football.
