Louis-Jean Frédéric Cardinal Guyot (born July 7, 1905 in Bordeaux , France , † August 1, 1988 ibid) was Archbishop of Toulouse .

Life

Louis-Jean Guyot studied in Bordeaux and Rome trays Catholic theology and philosophy . He received on 29 June 1932, the sacrament of Holy Orders , and then worked as a pastor in various parishes of the diocese of Bordeaux. He was particularly involved in youth pastoral care and founded a seminary for late callers. From 1944 to 1949 he headed the administration of the Archdiocese of Bordeaux as Vicar General .

Pope Pius XII appointed him in 1949 titular bishop of Helenopolis in Palestine and coadjutor bishop in the diocese of Coutances . He was ordained bishop on May 4, 1949 by the then Archbishop of Bordeaux and later Cardinal Maurice Feltin .

In 1950 Guyot became Bishop of Coutances . Louis-Jean Guyot attended the Second Vatican Council from 1962 to 1965 . Pope Paul VI In 1966 he made him head of the Archdiocese of Toulouse and accepted him on March 5, 1973 as a cardinal priest with the titular church of Sant'Agnese fuori le mura in the college of cardinals . Cardinal Guyot attended the August and October Conclaves in 1978 .

Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation on November 16, 1978. Cardinal Guyot died on August 1, 1988 in Bordeaux and was in the Cathedral buried in Toulouse.
