Louis Aronstein , also Ludwig Aronstein (born May 25, 1841 in Telgte , † February 13, 1913 in The Hague ), was a German physicist and chemist.

Life

From 1860 Aronstein studied chemistry and physics at the Georg-August University in Göttingen , where he became a member of the Corps Hannovera . It was 1864 in Göttingen at Hans Huebner with a dissertation About the acrolein Dr. phil. PhD.

After an assistant position at the Physics Institute of the University of Leiden , he was appointed director of the Higher Citizens School ( Hogereburgerschool ) in Breda in 1867 . In 1876 he was appointed professor of chemistry at the Royal Military Academy (Koninklijke Militaire Academie) in Breda. In 1894 he accepted a position at the Royal Polytechnic Delft, which in 1905 was upgraded to the Technical Hogeschool van Delft (today: TU Delft) and given the right to award doctorates, and held this position until the end of his professional life.

Louis Aronstein married Rosalchen Lewin (1839-1914) from Neuenrade in 1866 , and they had a son, Friedrich Aronstein (1867-1931).
