Louis Wöhner (born February 13, 1888 in Coburg , † June 30, 1958 in Munich ) was a German painter .

Life

Louis Wöhner trained as a draftsman and lithographer in a Coburg printing company. He attended the arts and crafts schools in Stockholm, Braunschweig, Cologne, Nuremberg and Düsseldorf . In 1913 Wöhner studied at the Art Academy in Munich with Peter Halm , Carl von Marr and Hugo von Habermann .

In 1918 he won a poster competition. From 1920 his pictures could be seen in the Munich Glass Palace . The late impressionist also exhibited regularly at the Munich artists' cooperative, of which he was a member. In 1927 and 1956 he showed his work at special exhibitions.

Works (selection)

Louis Wöhner was a typical painter of his time. His motifs met the taste of the times and ranged from north German port views and Italian coastal landscapes to women nudes , from medieval city views to alpine panoramas and from genre scenes to interiors and still lifes .
