Luise of Prussia (1808-1870)
Luise Auguste Wilhelmine Amalie von Prussia (born February 1, 1808 in Koenigsberg , † December 6, 1870 in Haus de Pauw in Wassenaar ) was a Princess of Prussia from the House of Hohenzollern and, by marriage, Princess of the Netherlands .
Life
Luise was the youngest daughter of King Friedrich Wilhelm III. von Prussia (1770–1840) from his marriage to Luise (1776–1810), daughter of Grand Duke Charles II of Mecklenburg-Strelitz . The East Prussian estates acted as godparents for the princess .
Luise married Prince Friedrich of the Netherlands (1797–1881) in Berlin on May 21, 1825 . In 1839, her father gave her Schildau Castle in the Hirschberg Valley , which she had rebuilt in the neo-Gothic style. She lived with her husband in the Netherlands and at Muskau Castle, which was acquired in 1846 .
Luisenstrasse in Berlin-Mitte is named after Luise .
