Louise Portal
Louise Portal (* 12. May 1950 in Chicoutimi , Quebec as Louise Lapointe ) is a Canadian actress , singer and writer .
Life
Louise Portal was born as Louise Lapointe . Her twin sister was the actress Pauline Lapointe (1950-2010). Both were the oldest of five children. Her younger sisters are songwriters Genevieve and Priscilla, who writes, composes and taught music and singing. The younger brother Dominique Lapointe is a journalist, producer and presenter at Radio-Canada . Her father was the doctor Marcel Lapointe (1920–1980), who was known as a writer, poet and painter under the pseudonym Marcel Portal .
After she was rejected by the drama school on her first attempt to become an actress, she began studying at the renowned Conservatoire d'art dramatique de Montréal a year later in 1969 , which she finished in 1971. In addition, she studied at the Actors Studio in New York City from 1986 to 1989 .
As an actress she made her debut in the classic 1972 and Mireille Dansereau staged drama La vie rêvée alongside Véronique Le Flaguais and Marc Messier . She became internationally known for her roles in The Fall of the American Empire , The Invasion of the Barbarians and In the South . She was nominated for the Canadian Genie Award as Best Actress for Cordélia and Sous-sol , and won him for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal in The Fall of the American Empire .
She has been married to the writer Jacques Hébert since May 13, 1995.
